boy 03:18
I was just a boy, how was I supposed to feel? I had questions more than your lessons could reveal So God, come down here, show me you’re real ‘Cause I need you more now than ever So show yourself and I’ll kneel Say what you want but I feel there’s something here It could be you but I can’t be sure (It could be you but I can’t be sure) I was just a boy, now I’m staring in those stained-glass eyes I wish I could lie and tell you What we’re about to go through Will be alright You won’t know God, but you will know hell Losing your connection in a garden full of questions Seek yourself Before you seek something else Say what you want but I feel there’s something here (I feel something) It could be you but I can’t be sure I feel there’s something here (I feel something) It could be you but I can’t be sure

blue 03:44
Life is precious but it’s heavy and weighing on me Weighing on me And if I’m honest you’re the only thing keeping me On the ground beneath my feet I’m not the same as before you Wouldn’t be who I am without you But things happen People do things I could lose all that I have in a moment Temper frays in erratic emotions It happens People lose things If you ever feel nothing but blue Know I only ever needed you I’m behind you Loving you from a distance And if you’re ever living with my ghost It’s okay to let it go Still beside you Loving you from a distance Loving you from a distance I’m still beside you Life is precious but it’s heavy and it’s weighing on me It’s weighing on me The tears in your eyes mirror mine and it terrifies me I’m not the same as before you Wouldn’t be who I am without you But things happen People do things And you’ll find somewhere to put the pieces Gathered from favourite places ‘Cause it happens People move things But if you ever feel nothing but blue Know I only ever needed you I’m behind you Loving you from a distance If you’re ever living with my ghost It’s okay to let it go Still beside you Loving you from a distance Loving you from a distance Still beside you Loving you from a distance Still beside you I’m somewhere on the breeze In every colour that you see In the faces of the people we meet I will find my way to you

about

Settling is the confessional and poetic collaborative project between James Walker and Rain Adair.

Their upcoming EP, “Field of Vision”, is an urgent and emotive exploration of childhood trauma, addiction, loss, and eventual recovery. Taking sonic queues from Lowswimmer, The Japanese House, and Pinegrove, the deliberately spacious, imperfect and ethereal arrangements evoke feelings of nostalgia, melancholy and reflection.

Settling marks the beginning of a full year of releases for both James Walker and Rain Adair, with James launching 2 EPs and an album over 2024, and Rain set to announce many releases over the year.
“Field of Vision” is proof that shared trauma and hardship, when explored through creativity, can metamorphose into something beautiful.

Rain Adair is also known as Ashley Wilkie, frontman of MMX and Francesqa. He has toured with The 1975, Futures, and Kids In Glass Houses, as well as won a Kerrang! Award for Best British Newcomer. James Walker is a prolific songwriter signed to Snafu Records (Kevin Garrett, Sam Macpherson, RANI), his left-field and unique songs have gained him more than 30m plays to date, and tours all over.
