2009 is a song I wrote with some old friends in Brighton, I was living and studying there a few years ago & we drank too much and rehearsed too little. I was staying with my friend Oscar, and my friend Zak from home had recently moved down. We decided to hangout and make some music together; I'd never really written any songs or sung at all, and Oscar had never played the bass. Zak was much better than me at figuring out cool riffs, and collectively we came up with this little idea. This song will always remind me of the times I had living down in Brighton, and how much I miss that place & that feeling of belonging. I now live in a different, much colder city, and long for the time in the future in which I can move somewhere more diverse & interesting. One day, I'll earn enough from creating music that I can do that, and until then I'll try to enjoy the opportunities that I have. This is 2009, a song about being in emo bands back in the day, and features a guitar solo played by yours truly.
